Carmen Blanche Silvera (2 June 1922 – 3 August 2002) was a Canadian‑born British actress whose long career in repertory theatre, television and film brought her particular popular recognition as Edith Artois in the BBC sitcom ’Allo ’Allo! (1982–1992). Trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Silvera worked extensively on stage after the Second World War and became a familiar face on British television from the early 1960s onward, with regular guest turns in series such as Z‑Cars and a continuing presence in serial drama.
