Daryl Hall & John Oates, commonly known as Hall & Oates, are an American R&B and pop-rock duo formed in Philadelphia in 1970. Daryl Hall was generally the lead vocalist, while John Oates primarily supplied electric guitar and backing vocals. They achieved their greatest fame from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s with a fusion of rock and roll and rhythm and blues, which they dubbed 'rock and soul'. With six number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and several multi-platinum albums, they are one of the most successful duos in music history and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
