Early formation and move to solo work
Juice Newton began performing folk and folk‑rock while attending college, then co‑founded Juice Newton & Silver Spur in the mid‑1970s. The band released albums for RCA and later Capitol. Newton went solo in late 1977 while Silver Spur remained her backing band name into the early 1980s. Songwriter-guitarist Otha Young was Newton’s principal collaborator throughout this period. [1]
