The Pointer Sisters are an American R&B, pop and soul vocal group from Oakland, California. Originally formed as a quartet of sisters — Ruth, Anita, Bonnie, and June — they became one of the most versatile and successful acts of the 1980s. The group achieved massive crossover success with energetic pop hits including "Jump (For My Love)", "I'm So Excited", "Neutron Dance", and "He's So Shy". Their 1984 album "Break Out" reached number eight on the Billboard 200 and produced four top-ten singles. The Pointer Sisters are the first black artists to perform at the Grand Ole Opry and the first black female group to win a Country Music Grammy. Their infectious energy and vocal harmonies made them a defining presence on 1980s pop radio and MTV.
