From classifieds to a defining Los Angeles band
The Bangles formed in Los Angeles in 1981 when Susanna Hoffs joined sisters Vicki and Debbi Peterson. Early work grew from the city's Paisley Underground scene, blending 1960s rock influences with contemporary power-pop. After an initial EP and lineup changes at bass, the group honed harmony-led, guitar-driven songs that attracted growing attention on the West Coast. [1]
