Bob Holness (Robert Wentworth John Holness; 12 November 1928 – 6 January 2012) was a British–South African broadcaster best known as the genial host of the UK quiz show Blockbusters. Born in Vryheid, Natal, and brought to England as a child, Holness trained at Maidstone College of Art before embarking on a career in repertory theatre and then commercial radio in the 1950s. He became a familiar voice on BBC radio programmes and later a prominent presence on Independent Local Radio (LBC). On television he presented light-entertainment and quiz shows from the 1960s to the 1990s while also making occasional acting and guest appearances.
