Date Of Birth: October 28, 1952
Real Name: Anne Hampton Potts
Height: 5ft 4in (1.63m)
Annie Potts is best known to 1980s audiences for two very different roles: the quirky, lovesick receptionist Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters (1984) and its sequel, and the sharp, sardonic Mary Jo Shively in the CBS sitcom Designing Women (1986-1993). Her natural wit and ability to deliver a dry line with perfect timing made her a favourite in both film and television comedy throughout the decade.
...Potts had worked in film and television before her breakthrough roles, appearing in Corvette Summer (1978) and Heartaches (1981). After Designing Women, she continued to work in television, most notably as the voice of Bo Peep in the Toy Story franchise (1995-2019) and as Meemaw in Young Sheldon (2017-2024). She remains one of the most versatile and beloved actresses of her generation.
